Martyrs Hermolaos, Hermippe et Hermocrate

Saint Hermolaos souffrit pour le Christ lors de la grande persécution de Dioclétien, au début du IVe siècle à Nicomédie. Les martyrs Hermippe et Hermocrate souffrirent avec lui. Hermolaos était prêtre, les deux autres martyrs étaient ecclésiastiques.

Ils prêchèrent la Parole de Dieu et ne cessèrent d'évangéliser, même pendant la persécution. De nombreux martyrs souffrirent à cette époque. Nous n'aurions peut-être jamais connu ces saints sans le grand martyr Pantéléimon, qu'Hermolaos convertit à la foi et baptisa. Ce fait est relaté dans la Vie.

Saint Hermolaos avait l'habitude de regarder par la fenêtre de sa maison et de bénir tous les passants dans son cœur. Un jour, il bénit Pantéléimon de cette manière. Ce petit acte innocent et spontané de bonté évangélique eut pour résultat une grande conversion.

Les noms d'Hermolaos, d'Hermippe et d'Hermocrate dérivent d'Hermès. Cela suggère que tous trois sont venus à la foi du paganisme. Il est même possible qu'ils aient servi cette divinité avant leur conversion, mais qu'ils aient rejeté leur erreur antérieure. Grâce à cette conversion, leur témoignage de foi n'en fut que plus convaincant.

Le nom de saint Hermolaos est invoqué parmi les adorateurs d'autels et les faiseurs de miracles, lors du sacrement orthodoxe de l'Onction des malades et dans les prières pour la guérison des malades. Saint Hermolaos lui-même n'était pas médecin, mais c'est lui qui fit remarquer au médecin Pantéléimon que le Christ Seigneur accorde la guérison à quiconque la demande avec ferveur lorsque la médecine est impuissante.

Le Symbole des Apôtres parle de la foi en la « communion des saints ». La vie d'Hermolaos, de ses compagnons et de saint Pantéléimon en est un exemple éloquent et étonnant.

Святой Ермолай пострадал за Христа в Великое Гонение Диоклетиана в начале четвертого века в Никомидии. Вместе с ним пострадали мученики Ермипп и Ермократ. Ермолай был священником, а два других мученика церковнослужителями.

Они проповедовали слово Божие и не переставали благовествовать даже во время гонения. Тогда пострадало очень много мучеников. Возможно, мы бы так никогда и не узнали бы об этих святых, если бы не великий целитель Пантелеимон, которого Ермолай обратил к вере и крестил. Об этом говорится в житии.

Святой Ермолай имел обыкновение смотреть в окошко своего жилища и мысленно благословлять всех проходивших мимо. Однажды он так благословил Пантелеимона. Следствием этого невинного, спонтанного, малого евангельского добра стало великое обращение.

Имена Ермолая, Ермиппа и Ермократа являются производными от Гермеса. Это свидетельствует о том, что все трое пришли к вере из язычества. Возможно даже, что до своего обращения они служили этому божеству, но отвергли прежнее заблуждение. Благодаря такому обращению свидетельство их веры было тем более убедительным.

Имя святого Ермолая призывается в числе святых бессребреников и чудотворцев в таинстве соборования, и молитвах об исцелении больных. Сам святой Ермолай не был врачом, но именно он указал врачу Пантелеимону, что, когда медицина бессильна, Христос Господь дарует исцеление всякому усердно просящему.

Символ Веры Святых Апостолов говорит о вере в «Общение Святых». Жития Ермолая, его сподвижников и святого Пантелеимона – удивительный великий пример такого общения.

Martyrs Hermolaus, Hermippus and Hermocrates

Saint Hermolaus suffered for Christ during the Great Persecution of Diocletian at the beginning of the fourth century in Nicomedia. The martyrs Hermippus and Hermocrates suffered with him. Hermolaus was a priest, and the other two martyrs were clergy.

The name of Saint Hermolaus is invoked among the holy unmercenaries and miracle workers in the orthodox sacrament of unction and prayers for the healing of the sick. Saint Hermolaus himself was not a doctor, but it was he who pointed out to the physician Panteleimon that when medicine is powerless, Christ the Lord grants healing to everyone who earnestly asks.

The Apostolic Creed speaks of faith in the "Communion of Saints." The lives of Hermolaus, his companions and Saint Panteleimon are an eloquent amazing example of such communion.

Der heilige Hermolaos litt während der großen Verfolgung Diokletians zu Beginn des 4. Jahrhunderts in Nikomedia für Christus. Die Märtyrer Hermippos und Hermokrates litten mit ihm. Hermolaos war Priester, die beiden anderen Märtyrer waren Geistliche.

Sie predigten das Wort Gottes und hörten auch während der Verfolgung nicht auf zu evangelisieren. Viele Märtyrer litten damals. Der heilige Hermolaos pflegte aus dem Fenster seines Hauses zu schauen und alle Passanten in seinem Herzen zu segnen. Eines Tages segnete er Panteleimon auf diese Weise. Die Folge dieser unschuldigen, spontanen, kleinen evangelischen Güte war eine große Bekehrung.

Die Namen Hermolaos, Hermippos und Hermokrates leiten sich von Hermes ab. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass alle drei aus dem Heidentum zum Glauben kamen. Es ist sogar möglich, dass sie vor ihrer Bekehrung dieser Gottheit dienten, aber ihren früheren Irrtum ablehnten. Dank dieser Bekehrung war ihr Glaubenszeugnis umso überzeugender.

Der Name des Heiligen Hermolaos wird unter den heiligen Uneigennützigen und Wundertätern im orthodoxen Sakrament der Krankensalbung und in Gebeten um die Heilung der Kranken angerufen. Der Heilige Hermolaos selbst war kein Arzt, doch er war es, der den Arzt Panteleimon darauf hinwies, dass Christus, der Herr, jedem, der ernsthaft darum bittet, Heilung schenkt, wenn die Medizin machtlos ist.

Das Apostolische Glaubensbekenntnis spricht vom Glauben an die „Gemeinschaft der Heiligen“. Das Leben des Hermolaos, seiner Gefährten und des Heiligen Panteleimon ist ein beredtes, erstaunliches Beispiel für eine solche Gemeinschaft.
