Сердечно поздравляю вас с Днём памяти святого Дорофея Газского, великого подвижника, оставившего нам свои замечательные духовные творения. Он жил в V–VI веках, и его духовная мудрость поистине уникальна.

Сегодня для меня также особенный день. Ровно тридцать три года назад, в возрасте шестнадцати лет, я принял крещение в Храме Успения Пресвятой Богородицы в Троице-Лыково, у отца настоятеля протоиерея Стефана Пристая. Именно в момент принятия Таинства я решил посвятить свою жизнь служению Богу и стать священником. До этого я почти ничего не знал ни о вере, ни о православном христианстве.

Сегодня я хотел бы поделиться с вами ещё одной радостью. По окончании Божественной литургии один из наших прихожан, совершенно не подозревая, насколько важна для меня эта дата, подарил мне икону Серафима Роуза, канонизация которого, как нам известно, в настоящее время находится в процессе. Для меня это стало великим утешением и особым знамением.

Когда я только начинал свой путь христианина, его книги были одними из первых, которые наставляли и укрепляли меня в вере. Сначала я читал святого Августина, а затем Серафима Роуза. Спустя некоторое время я посетил Оптину пустынь, где монахи рассказали мне, что Серафим Роуз писал о святом Августине. Тогда это стало для меня великим знамением.

Je vous félicite chaleureusement à l’occasion de la fête de saint Dorothée de Gaza, ce grand ascète qui nous a laissé de merveilleux écrits spirituels. Il a vécu aux Ve et VIe siècles, et sa sagesse spirituelle est véritablement unique.

Aujourd’hui est également un jour très particulier pour moi. Il y a exactement trente-trois ans, à l’âge de seize ans, j’ai reçu le saint baptême à l’église de la Dormition de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu à Troïtse-Lykovo, des mains du recteur de la paroisse, l’archiprêtre Stéphane Pristaï. C’est précisément au moment de recevoir ce sacrement que j’ai décidé de consacrer ma vie au service de Dieu et de devenir prêtre. Avant cela, je ne connaissais presque rien de la foi ni du christianisme orthodoxe.

Aujourd’hui, je voudrais aussi partager avec vous une autre joie. À la fin de la Divine Liturgie, l’un de nos paroissiens, sans se douter combien cette date est importante pour moi, m’a offert une icône du père Séraphim Rose, dont le processus de canonisation est actuellement en cours. Pour moi, cela a été une grande consolation et un signe particulier.

Lorsque j’ai commencé mon cheminement chrétien, ses livres furent parmi les premiers à m’instruire et à me fortifier dans la foi. J’ai d’abord lu saint Augustin, puis Séraphim Rose. Quelque temps plus tard, j’ai visité le monastère d’Optino, où les moines m’ont expliqué que Séraphim Rose avait écrit sur saint Augustin. À l’époque, cela fut pour moi un grand signe.

I warmly congratulate you on the Feast Day of Saint Dorotheos of Gaza, the great ascetic who left us his wonderful spiritual writings. He lived in the fifth and sixth centuries, and his spiritual wisdom is truly unique.

Today is also a very special day for me. Exactly thirty-three years ago, at the age of sixteen, I received Holy Baptism at the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Troitse-Lykovo from the hands of the parish rector, Archpriest Stephan Pristai. It was precisely at the moment of receiving this Sacrament that I decided to dedicate my life to the service of God and become a priest. Before that, I knew almost nothing about the faith or about Orthodox Christianity.

Today I would also like to share another joy with you. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, one of our parishioners, unaware of how important this date is to me, presented me with an icon of Father Seraphim Rose, whose canonization process is currently underway. For me, this was a great consolation and a special sign.

When I began my Christian journey, his books were among the first that instructed and strengthened me in the faith. I first read Saint Augustine, and then Seraphim Rose. Some time later, I visited Optina Monastery, where the monks told me that Seraphim Rose had written about Saint Augustine. At that time, this too became a great sign for me.
